Tear away the aluminum reality
& watch it crumble at my feet
The sun may beat down
& cast glares in my eyes
Causing tears to chase my cheeks
& cry
But I will not falter
When the aluminum dismembers my intestines
& preserves my thoughts
Like they’re a turkey in the oven
It will keep memories fresh & moist
Never to be forgotten
Mrs. Plath would toss roses at my feet
An ode to our shared reality
She will watch with her popcorn
As my cheeks puff out enough
To just cover my eyes
So I am blind & yet again cannot see straight
She will cry with me
As the weight of my heart
Presses me deep into my mattress
Never to return
“Sylvia!” I will call out
Seeking guidance from the expert
“The Bell Jar has fallen again!”
I will cry – she will sing
We will huddle together
& lay in the tear ducts of my virus
A shared remembrance
To a reality stuck in the oven
Burning & stinking the room
That is still rotting our hearts.
