There’s a swing outside the mausoleum
And it’s swaying
The air was still
But then I sighed
And when I sigh
The breeze seems to pick up
& instead of just blowing the autumn leaves
It picks up the branches
It pushes the empty swing
It lifts the horses from their fields
& blows them straight across my window
I can hear them crying
But my gaze wont leave the swings
I am the Zeus of the land
The swings parade in circles
Flipping and smacking against one another
Their chains crashing together
The graves scream out
As the car breaks squeal
Then the gray sky turns midnight
& moonlight cascades through my window
The swings fade into the darkness
The horse cries’ begin to calm
The wind softens
All is silent
Except for the distant screech
Of the swing outside the mausoleum
That still sways back and forth
Whenever I sigh.

Memories Turn to Dust
Date :
The dust of yesterdays mourning will fall
It will blanket itself on my shelf
And smother itself around Forget
It will clump together
As tears collapse its surface
But I am the underachiever
I will not attempt to clean it anymore
And when the layers get too thick
I will leave
When the broom is covered
And the rags are black
I will pick up and go
No belongings will follow me
They are caked into position
Glued in place
By the sullen embodiment of hope
The dust of yesterdays mourning will fall
It will blanket itself on my shelf
And you won’t catch me trying to clean it up.

The Protesting Clouds
Date : Saturday, October 13
The sun is shining too brightCascading through the slivers in my blindsTheres a pulsating behind my eyesBecause the clouds aren't blocking enoughThe clouds...Which usually absorb the lightLike a sponge soaks up water -Are not doing good enoughToday they stepped asideThey are on protestLike the taxi drivers were a week agoOr the pro-lifers in response to that new abortion clinicThe clouds sit around the sunClosing it inBut still not doing their jobsAnd the sun is not an abortion clinicThe light is not your minimum wageThey've handcuffed themselves to the skyTo the bright blue wallAnd they refuse to moveSo I get the bad end of their ordealI sit - minding my own business...And am blinded by the lightThe light that shines too brightAnd shoves its' way Through the slivers in my blinds -As if in protest itself -Trying to make a pointThat nobody wants to hear.
