Birds fly south to escape the cold
Bears hibernate for months untold
I am starting to see the logic in their choice
For I want to escape the cold
Even as spring approaches
And as the sun emerges from the clouds
I still feel cold
Maybe birds don't just ‘go south’
Maybe they have a special place
A place where they don't feel cold
A place where, given the obvious, all truth unfolds
This makes me want to be a bird
Most people want to be birds to fly
And flying would help
Seeing as flying means I can leave
Just take flight and cruise the winds
But I want to be a bird
To escape the bitter cold of winter
To flee the bitter pain inside
I’ll go to this place of birds
I’ll fly with them
And escape with them
Then, maybe, when spring comes around again
I’ll be better
And willing to face things anew
