Dont listen to the sound of all the people you know slowly falling apart.

Who is she?
I wake up, go to the bathroom and a different face is staring back at me.
Who is this person with eyes so cold, so transparent?
Who is this person, I don't recognize her.
She doesn’t look like me – at least not the ‘me’ that I remember.
She has dark eyes, and she’s pale; maybe flushed
Her hair is greasy and wavy, as if she hasn’t showered in days.
There is no trace of a smile having taken her face for weeks.
In fact, her eyes are puffy, like she’s been crying.
Her lips are pursed, as if she’s angry.
Who is this person, I don't recognize her.
She reminds me of a tidal wave.
Her anger is small in appearance but as you look closer it also grows larger.
Then again, the mirror distorts; the mirror is opposite reality.
Maybe this girl is really dancing in a fantasy parade;
Maybe she is just below the realms of human perception
Maybe the face staring back is someone I know very well
Then again, I still don't recognize her.

Mundane America
The angels cry
The Heavens weep
The children run
The devil leaps
It’s his cunning chance
To capture innocent fate
To have a hand in
Creating tenacious hate
As the children play
As they run and scream
The rebel group abducts them
And such acts go unseen
The children seem invisible
For the world ignores their pain
We won’t respond to their pleas
For America’s mundane
The angles sing light
And the Heavens cry rain
But to no such lesson
Would America sustain
The children don't have oil
They have no treasures, no gold
In despair they live life
Their hopes growing cold
We choose not to help them
We choose to ignore
We choose not to listen
But we can’t anymore
These children need assistance
They need guidance and support
We can’t ignore humanity
It’s a complex rapport
The Angels sing beauty
The children sing pain
The devil sings anguish
America sings vane
But we cant anymore

Friends in Uganda
Across the globe my friends lie silent
Muffling their weeping in screaming and pain
My friends, they’re forced to take to violence
As their innocent hearts are slain

They travel together, for safety in numbers
Two miles a night, for a peaceful slumber
Their lives consist of fear and sorrow
As they have no real hope of it ending tomorrow

They live in a war torn place of fear
A society lacking in true offense
They must wonder why no help is near
Why no one has come to their defense

Across the globe my friends lie silent
Muffling their weeping in screaming and pain
My friends, they’re forced to take to violence
For how much longer will this war remain?
