The Irony
I lay in bed, waiting for the night to pass
As the clock ticks, so slowly
The scent of pee drifting around me room
My stuffed dog resting on my bed
Tobi, lying against my pillows,
His chest heaving as he gasps for breath
In the car, rushing to the vet
Time passing
Minutes vanishing into nothingness
In the neighbors van
The stench of cigarettes intoxicating my nose
My face buried in Tobi’s fur
The night it over
Minutes gone, an hour past
This night together was our last
I lay in bed, tears staining my face
Eyes puffy, cheeks red
Humid air filling my room
Time is gone, cant go back
And still, the clock ticks, so slowly.
